YES Employment Services is a non-profit, community-based organization with a long history providing employment services in Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Red Rock and surrounding areas. Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Workforce Empowerment Coach implements, and reports on client’s activity, including case management, intake and assessment, counselling, retention support and referral services for clients and employers. As well as delivering workshops and conducting offsite job coaching, the incumbent must have the ability to work in a dynamic service delivery environment.

MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Employment Counselling, Coaching, and Case Management

  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes client information through completed needs assessments and other mechanisms to appraise clients’ interests, aptitudes, and abilities to create individualized action plans that lead to successful outcomes.
  • Maintain regular and ongoing positive contact with clients (minimum bi-weekly).
  • Conducts timely follow-ups job seeker clients throughout their job search efforts, and provides repeat, one-on-one job employment counselling sessions and support, as needed, to review goals, address barriers, and ensure clients are making progress toward goals, including facilitating community-based referrals when needed.
  • Assesses and facilitates wraparound and intervention resources and referrals required to help clients address and overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving successful employment outcomes.
  • Consistently monitors and tracks caseload success rate to achieve individual targets that contribute to the team’s overall objectives and expectations from the funder.
  • Provides solution-based employment counselling and ongoing support to an assigned caseload of clients in the areas of job search, job placement, career decision making, job retention, and other areas to support clients with achieving employment goals.
  • Provides effective job search readiness support services to clients on relevant topics, such as job search strategies, interview preparation, credential assessments, language support, and other areas to help them achieve successful outcomes, such as developing effective résumés.
  • Supports clients to acquire a clear understanding of industry perspectives and other information pertaining to the job opportunities to which they are applying.
  • Guides and supports clients with completing applications for education and/or training opportunities.

Documentation

  • Maintains detailed and accurate case notes for client-related activities
  • Ensure privacy confidentiality of all client information
  • Ensure that client documentation is complete relevant to consent and disclosure of information
  • Documentation of client files according to program and agency standards following internal policies and procedures

Job Development, Placement, and Retention Support

  • Conducts outreach to develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries to promote YES Employment Services in the community and create job leads for active clients in caseload.
  • Collaborates with fellow team members on topics such as job development, case conferencing and retention strategies that help lead clients to successful outcomes.
  • Conducts job search activities with clients, including cold calling employers and other strategies to support them with achieving successful outcomes.
  • Administers and monitors on-the-job training plans and conducts appropriate follow-ups and interventions with employers, works to mediate issues when needed to ensure that all expectations are met.
  • Places clients into meaningful employment opportunities by matching them with job opportunities created through effective employer relationships as well as advertised job vacancies suitable for their experience, skills, and interests.
  • Complete matrix, rationale and placement contract based on client and employer needs.
  • Ensure finance spreadsheet tracking is reviewed regularly (Minimum – biweekly)
  • Negotiates and administers placement, incentive, monitors, and other agreements with employers when applicable.
  • Maintain regular and ongoing positive contact with clients on a 1/3/6/12 month basis.

Marketing

  • Markets individuals and YES programs and services to employers.
  • Liaises with other agencies to promote networking.
  • Represents YES at committees and external events.

  • Facilitates in-person and virtual workshops in an effective and engaging manner.
  • Tracks and reports on client progress.
  • Assists with the ongoing development of curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other agencies.
  • Utilizes a variety of tools, including virtual reality, to create career exploration opportunities for clients.

Programming

  • Thorough knowledge of program guidelines.
  • Participate in strategic planning process.
  • Participate in unit meetings and YES staff meetings.
  • Must be an active member of the team, collaborating with other team members and units, operating using evidence-based practices, in the best interest of the agency and our clients.
  • Ensure employers are informed relative to YES Employment Services feedback and complaint process

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Post-secondary education related to Social Services or Human Relations required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ direct experience in employment counselling, job coaching, and/or job development, or other experience directly transferrable to the position’s responsibilities, is required.
  • A professional and courteous approach to client service with a high level of respect for the diversity of the people served.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to uphold the organization’s core values.
  • Proven track record in a results-driven environment and experience with meeting assigned targets.
  • In Motion and Momentum facilitator training and Service Excellence facilitator training are considered strong assets.
  • High ethics and confidentiality standards with proven experience maintaining sensitive information and exhibiting tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
  • Experience in vocational counselling, managing client caseloads, familiarity with Employment Ontario-funded programming, community outreach, and employer relationship-building considered assets.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Service Delivery Manager, Employer Relations Coordinators focus on growing and supporting the agency’s network of employer contacts. Through marketing, ERCs reach out to a broad range of employers in the community to understand their needs and work to connect them with YES job seekers. Internally, ERCs assist in the registration of new employers and regularly provide the client-focused YES staff with relevant employer information and job leads for clients. Through job development, ERCs also work to connect those furthest from the labour market with employment opportunities that support their needs and goals. In addition, ERCs play a crucial role in the overall marketing of YES services.

MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Employer Relations

  • Conducts outreach to develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries to promote YES Employment Services in the community.
  • Conducts needs assessments with employers.
  • Registers new employers.
  • Regularly conducts cold calls and employer visits to expand employer connections.
  • Maintains and fosters on-going positive relationships with a broad range of employers and work to mediate issues.
  • Research current labour market trends and industry needs locally, regionally and provincially.
  • Gather information from employers and generates job leads for YES internal job bank.
  • Provides relevant employer information to the client-focused YES staff.
  • Obtains feedback from employer network on a regular basis.
  • Liaises with the agencies connected to the local business community.
  • Negotiates job placement contracts.
  • Assists employers with applications for funding.
  • Knowledgeable about the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act (LRA), Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) and Pay Equity Act.

Job Development

WHO WE ARE: Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the KI Family Law and its Maamao Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model carries out child and family services, but KIDO is much broader than mainstream services. It is specific to KI Nation and is an important exercise of Miinikozowin (inherent power) by KI and aims to restore kayaash egwa miina ahchaako kikinohamaakewinan (traditional and spiritual teachings of KI).

VISION STATEMENT: To reach a goal of a healthy self, healthy dibenjikewin (family), and a healthy community. Our ancestors held everything sacred and thanked Kishe-Manido (Creator) for all that had been given, including the foundation to guide a strong community composed of healthy dibenjikewinan (families) who are raising awaashishag (children) and/or oshkaadizag (youth) grounded in their culture and language.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (KIDO) Marketing Coordinator will lead all KIDO marketing/public relations activities to create public awareness and understanding of KIDO, its vision, mission, principles, and services, with a focus on Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) members. Outreach will also include internal KIDO stakeholder groups and external partner governments and agencies. The Marketing Coordinator will ensure all marketing activities project KIDO brand consistency, in alignment with the brand guide, as part of communicating a positive image of KIDO and its important services.

The Marketing Coordinator will interact with the public in-person through event hosting, presentations, and career fairs; online through social media, email, and the KIDO website; and through other media channels, such as KI Community Radio and KIDO newsletters. Duties will include planning and implementing annual marketing campaigns and event sponsorships that serve to fulfill the vision of KIDO. To support marketing activities, the Marketing Coordinator will create, purchase, and distribute KIDO promotional materials in multimedia formats.

The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Ayamowin (Communications) Manager and works in close cooperation with other Ayamowin staff, the KIDO Director, and senior managers. This is a full-time position. Duties will generally take place during regular KIDO operating hours, but the Marketing Coordinator will sometimes work flexible hours to fulfill requirements of the job.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Lead development and implementation of a marketing strategy and plan. Schedule and coordinate annual KIDO marketing campaigns and major sponsorships of KI special events that reinforce the KIDO vision and mission. Monitor and evaluate the reach and effectiveness of marketing activities for ongoing improvement of marketing strategies.

·       Assess incoming sponsorship requests for fit with the KIDO vision and mission.

·       Plan, create and distribute promotional/advertising content through the KIDO website, newsletters, and multimedia/social media channels, and KI Community Radio. Execute external media ad buys as necessary.

·       Coordinate distribution of newsletters, information bulletins, and KIDO awareness campaigns in direct and digital formats. Create and maintain email and mailing lists of KI people and other KIDO stakeholders.

·       Liaise with the KIDO Graphic Designer and external commercial printers to produce promotional materials, including business cards, brochures, posters, office signage, stakeholder gifts, and employee gear.

·       Coordinate the purchase, storage, and distribution of marketing/promotional materials from vendors, and maintain inventory records.

·       Coordinate the sharing of internal KIDO communications with staff via an Intranet and/or staff portal forum.

·       Coordinate, publicize, and host KIDO events and news conferences. Photograph and video/audio record event activities as necessary.

·       Assist the Communications Manager in the preparation and distribution of KIDO media releases, in consultation with the KIDO Director, KI Chief and Council, and/or the KI-6 Advisory Group, as applicable.

·       In co-operation with the KIDO Human Resources Department, assist with planning, setup, and promotion for employee recruitment events, such as career fairs.

·       In co-operation with the KIDO Foster Parent Coordinator, assist with the recruitment and retention of foster parents.

·       Conduct market research using direct and digital feedback tools. Monitor social media for commentary about KIDO that may require a response.

·       Travel as required, primarily between KIDO locations in KI, Sioux Lookout, and Thunder Bay.

·       Work with Anishininiimowin language representatives for Anishininiimowin inclusion with marketing strategies, resources, and materials.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Education and/or experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field. Marketing experience with First Nations communities and/or organizations is an asset.

·       Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking abilities to create marketing plans and campaigns, and promotional and advertising content.

·       Experience with event coordination, ideally including events in a First Nations setting.

·       Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, and some ability to speak Anishininiimowin or a willingness to learn.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with KI members and other KIDO stakeholders.

·       Excellent organization and time management skills to simultaneously manage multiple marketing projects, tasks, and deadlines.

·       General understanding of budgeting and financial management principles.

·       A good working knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint. It is an asset to have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs for graphic design and photo, video, and audio editing, and of other graphic design tools such as Canva. Proficiency in the use of audio/video recording equipment is also an asset.

·       Working knowledge of social media platforms and social media management.

·       Knowledge of KI’s distinct history, culture, traditions, and values, and of contemporary life in the community. Understand that the KI audience ranges from youths who use social media to elders who may read Anishininiimowin syllabics and listen to Anishininiimowin community radio. Ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to marketing activities.

·       Commitment to the KIDO vision, mission, and principles.

·       Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently. Able to work collaboratively as part of the Ayamowin team and cross-functional KIDO teams.

·       A valid Ontario driver’s licence is required.

·       A Criminal Record Check, with a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.

Primary Functions:

Wesway is seeking a Respite Worker to provide support to participants at the Wait At Home (WAH) Respite Home Service, serving adults and seniors. The Respite Worker is responsible to:

·         Carry out all duties usually performed by the primary caregiver in relation to the day-to-day care needs of the participants. Participants are adults and seniors who have a wide range of physical, developmental and/or cognitive challenges.  (e.g. complex medical needs, Alzheimer Disease or a related dementia, etc.). These individuals have a variety of unique support needs including but are not limited to: tube feeding, personal care, catheterization, lift and transfer support, medication, diabetic care, etc.

·         Plan and carry out both home and community-based recreational and leisure activities which are geared to the unique strengths, needs, and preferences of all participants.

·         Perform all duties required to support the day-to-day operation of the Respite Home Service (e.g. meal planning and preparation, laundry, house cleaning, shopping, management of petty cash, documentation, etc.)

 

Qualifications:

·         Previous experience supporting adult and seniors with a wide variety of special needs.

·         Previous experience supporting multiple participants within a team environment is an asset.

·         Previous experience supporting individuals with responsive behaviours.

·         Proven skills in developing and planning recreational activities specific to the needs of individuals.

·         Comfortable supporting individuals with personal care

·         Able to do lifts and transfers.

·         Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

·         Able to problem solve and work in a complex, fast paced environment.

·         Complex medical treatments or procedures may be routinely performed.

 

Hours of Work and Availability Preference:

The Respite Home is a 24/7 operation, and you must be available for 8-hour shifts (days, evenings, and midnights). All shifts are awake shifts.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Career Development Practitioner provides information, intake, assessment, counselling, and referral services to registered clients and employers accessing services. The incumbent must have the ability to work in a dynamic programming / service delivery environment. Programming and service delivery will utilize or access a majority of Agencies resources.

MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Client Service Planning Coordination

• Greet clients and direct them according to their reasons for coming to YES through needs / essential skills assessment.
• Register new clients.
• Work with clients to collaboratively develop service plans.
• Develop measurable goal oriented workplans with clients
• Regularly revisit and update workplans with clients
• Conduct ongoing assessments to demonstrate progress on workplans.
• Ensure resource & information area computers are functioning efficiently, troubleshoot problems and seek assistance when necessary.
• Provide initial intake / assessments.
• Maintain regular and ongoing positive contact with clients in a way that is measurable (minimum bi-weekly contact).
• Establish and maintain complete file documentation including the procurement of such legal records as necessary maintaining computer database of all clients.
• Monitor active clients and their progress on a regular basis.

• Develop a plan with clients for marketing their skills/abilities to prospective employers.
• Provide employers with information regarding our job order process.
• Provide referrals and updates information or programs/services available to employers.
• Ensure placement claims are picked up, reviewed and submitted to finance for reimbursement
• Ensure finance spreadsheet tracking is reviewed for accuracy
• Advocates on behalf of clients, provides support to employers/clients once placement or referral has been made.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, The Human Resources Manager plays a vital role in overseeing a wide range of human resources across three locations (KI, Sioux Lookout, and Thunder Bay). As our HR Manager you will be responsible for the overall planning and management of Human Resources functions including but not limited to employee relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and development and administration of policies and procedures. The HR Manager provides strategic advice, conflict resolution, and co-ordination of a range of day-to-day HR issues that require judgement and tactical decisions making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Ensure ESA compliance and adherence to applicable employment legislation, including employment standards, human rights code, workplace safety and the occupational health and safety act.

·       Implement and maintain consistent HR activities across all departments.

·       Responsible for the oversight of HR staff.

·       Lead and mentor HR employees by sharing your knowledge.

·       Act as a resource for team members and leadership on employee relation issues.

·       Develop, revise, and implement HR strategies, policies and procedures aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.

·       Manage the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and separation processes.

·       Advise and support Managers and Directors on HR-related matters, including employee relations, conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.

·       Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive employee engagement initiatives, including employee recognition programs, employee surveys, and performance feedback mechanisms.

·       Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and employment law and regulations.

·       Develop job descriptions to reach targeted talent pool that can be used with a variety of platforms such as, Indeed, media websites, print and fax.

·       Conduct internal confidential workplace investigations and ensure appropriate documentation when required.

·       Maintain HR records and prepare reports for leadership.

·       Manage the off-boarding process for both voluntary and involuntary terminations.

·       Managing the administration of Health Plans including enrollment, changes, terminations and policy renewals.

Other Duties

·       Take personal responsibility to increase sensitivity, awareness, and implementation of cultural teachings and organizational practices in both professional conduct and work-related deliverables.

·       Access and utilize Elders and Knowledge holders for teachings and guidance as it relates to work deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS

·       3-year diploma or undergrad with 3 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources

·       CHRP Designation

·       Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

·       Adept in Online meeting software such as Zoom, Google Meet and or Teams

·       Personnel Filing / Record Keeping Management

·       Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset

The Police Service Board Policy Analyst/Writer is responsible for researching, developing, and reviewing policies that guide the operations and governance of police services. This role involves drafting policies that are aligned with legal frameworks, ethical standards, and community needs while ensuring compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA) and other relevant legislation. The Analyst/Writer works closely and supports board committees, and community stakeholders to ensure that policies promote transparency, accountability, and public safety.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development
Research, draft, and recommend policies for review by the Police Services Board.
Ensure all policies align with legal standards, ethical guidelines, and community safety needs.
Review and update existing policies in accordance with new legislation or emerging issues.
Research & Analysis
Conduct thorough research on policing, criminal justice trends, public safety concerns, and legal requirements.

Advisory Role

Compliance & Evaluation
Ensure all board policies comply with the CSPA and other relevant legislation.
Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of policies within the police service.
Collaborate with legal experts to ensure ongoing legal compliance.
Indigenous Governance & Relationships
Integrate Indigenous governance structures and worldviews into policy development.
Build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous communities to reflect their perspectives in policies.
Support reconciliation efforts through alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
Administrative Support
Set meetings and agendas with the respective Chairs for the Governance and Labour Relations Committees and other committees as required
Communicate with committee chairs, prepare meeting minutes, and track action items.
Coordinate and schedule policy reviews as directed
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Social Science, Criminal Justice, Law, or a related field.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data.
Proficiency in policy writing and technical communication.
Knowledge of laws governing police work, public safety, and municipal governance.
Experience working with diverse community stakeholders.
Familiarity with Indigenous governance and worldviews is an asset.
