This is a full-time, temporary position with possibility to become permanent, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm with 35 hour work weeks. The hourly wage is $25.07, plus 4% vacation, plus 3% in lieu of benefits.

YES Employment Services is a non-profit, community-based organization with a long history providing employment services in Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Red Rock and surrounding areas. We work with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds to develop skills to achieve success in attaining their employment goals. YES Employment works collaboratively with our clients to help them reach their goals in a meaningful way and provides services in line with our organizational values. Summary: Under the supervision of the Service Delivery Manager, Employer Relations Coordinators focus on growing and supporting the agency’s network of employer contacts. Through marketing, ERCs reach out to a broad range of employers in the community to understand their needs and work to connect them with YES job seekers. Internally, ERCs assist in the registration of new employers and regularly provide the client-focused YES staff with relevant employer information and job leads for clients. Through job development, ERCs also work to connect those furthest from the labour market with employment opportunities that support their needs and goals. In addition, ERCs play a crucial role in the overall marketing of YES services.
MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Employer Relations
- Conducts outreach to develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries to promote YES Employment Services in the community.
- Conducts needs assessments with employers.
- Registers new employers.
- Regularly conducts cold calls and employer visits to expand employer connections.
- Maintains and fosters on-going positive relationships with a broad range of employers and work to mediate issues.
- Research current labour market trends and industry needs locally, regionally and provincially.
- Gather information from employers and generates job leads for YES internal job bank.
- Provides relevant employer information to the client-focused YES staff.
- Obtains feedback from employer network on a regular basis.
- Liaises with the agencies connected to the local business community.
- Negotiates job placement contracts.
- Assists employers with applications for funding.
- Knowledgeable about the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act (LRA), Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) and Pay Equity Act.
- Maintain consistent and regular communication with employers to build relationships
Job Development
- Creates meaningful quality employment opportunities through effective employer relationships.
- Complete placement contract based on employer needs.
- Ensure finance spreadsheet tracking is reviewed regularly (Minimum – biweekly).
- Negotiates and administers training contract, incentives, monitors, and other agreements with employers when applicable.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with employers through consistent and regular communication.
- Offer ongoing assistance to employers, which includes regular check-ins and support for accommodations.
- Provide job carving options to employers.
Documentation
- Maintains detailed and accurate case notes for employer-related activities.
- Maintains employer database.
- Tracks progress related to employer outreach and individual outreach targets.
- Ensure privacy confidentiality of all employer information.
- Ensure that client and employer documentation is complete relevant to consent and disclosure of information.
- Documentation of employer files according to program and agency standards following internal policies and procedures.
Marketing
- Markets YES programs and services to employers.
- Liaises with other employer relevant agencies to promote networking.
- Organized job fairs and employer events.
- Represents YES at committees and external events.
- Provides information regarding other programs and services when appropriate.
Workshops
- Facilitates in-person and virtual workshops in an effective and engaging manner related to educating employers on relevant topics and issues.
- Tracks and reports on workshop attendance and feedback.
- Assists with the ongoing development of employer-relevant curriculum.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with other agencies.
Programming
- Thorough knowledge of program guidelines.
- Participate in strategic planning process.
- Participate in unit meetings and YES staff meetings.
- Must be an active member of the team, collaborating with other team members and units, operating using evidence-based practices, in the best interest of the agency and our clients.
- Ensure employers are informed relative to YES Employment Services feedback and complaint process.
Other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Marketing and/or Human Resources is required.
- A minimum of 5+ years sales experience or 3+ years in commission-based sales considered an asset.
- A professional and courteous approach to service with a high level of respect for the diversity of the people served.
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to uphold the organization’s core values.
- Proven track record in a results-driven environment and experience with meeting assigned targets.
- High ethics and confidentiality standards with proven experience maintaining sensitive information and exhibiting tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
- Experience in business operation, managing a professional network, familiarity with Employment Ontario-funded programming, community outreach, and employer relationship-building considered assets.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong detail orientation, time management, and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and achieve targets and objectives.
- Must be comfortable contacting employers by phone and in person to provide introductions and advocate.
- A significant portion of the job involves being out of the office, actively engaging with new and current employers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Outlook 365 applications, including MS Teams and SharePoint. Must possess aptitude and willingness to learn and work with new online systems and technologies.
- Willingness and flexibility to occasionally work outside regular business hours when required to ensure the team meets all objectives.
- Strong work ethic with a positive and employer-centered approach to work.
- Valid Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and Business Use Insurance required.
